We believe many current structures are no longer fit for social and planetary purposes, while at the same time continuing to perpetuate a façade of change through performative acts and subtle tweaks. No iterative changes are enough to save them from their own toxicity. They require dismantling and dissolution in order for something else to be created in their place. At the core of our dismantling practice is freedom: from restrictive violent culture and its norms that promote and reward business-as-usual methodologies and approaches, from status-quo approaches that limit who participates and what can be achieved, from entrenched approaches that prevent individuals, teams, and communities from thriving.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In this workshop you will practice:
Engaging with different perspectives about what a future of thriving and wellbeing means personally, organizationally, and collectively.
How organizational structures reproduce patterns and fortify unsustainability-as-usual
Your entanglement with institutional (un)sustainability
How to intervene by interrupting and disinvesting from what further exacerbates unsustainability
How to intervene by helping catalyze that which is emergent
ARE THERE FEES TO ATTEND?
We offer this free to increase practice spaces for holding change regardless of access to wealth. You are welcome whether you attended Part One or not. Together we will seek to see structures through their constituent layers rather than their homogenous integrity. We will see ourselves as microcosms of the larger macrocosm we inhabit.
WHY WE’re HOSTING
It is often difficult for individuals and organizations to access other possibilities beyond iterations of the status quo, and to practice new capacities and dispositions. Our work at Solvable is focused on identifying and developing systems disturbances that bring alternative futures closer to the present.
